Cardiff Council and the Welsh Revenue Authority (WRA) are hosting two free sessions to help visitor accommodation providers prepare for the introduction of the Visitor Levy in Cardiff.
The Visitor Levy will be introduced in Cardiff from 1 April 2027, but accommodation providers must start accounting for the levy from 28 September 2026.
From that date, providers will need to account for the Visitor Levy on:
New bookings for stays from 1 April 2027
Extra nights or visitors added to existing bookings for stays from 1 April 2027
The free sessions will take providers through the 10 steps to get ready for the Visitor Levy and provide an opportunity to ask questions.
They are aimed at anyone taking bookings for overnight stays of 31 nights or less in Cardiff, whether they provide accommodation occasionally, seasonally or year-round.
Two sessions will be available:
- Wednesday 9 September, 11am to 1pm – in-person session at Cardiff Castle
- Thursday 10 September, 6pm to 7pm – online webinar via Microsoft Teams
