Showcasing the Best of Welsh Business

Business Planning Advice Held at Swansea Breakfast Event

The Swansea business community gathered last week for a free breakfast event, where taxation, finance, and employment experts detailed the importance of planning for a successful business exit.

The gathering, at Swansea’s Marriott hotel, was organised by city-based Chartered, Certified Accountants, Morgan Hemp, in conjunction with HR Specialists, Effective HRM, and sponsored by HSBC Bank PLC.

Around 40 attendees from across the local business community heard invited speakers talk through some key actions for ensuring a smooth exit process, whether they plan to settle into retirement or move on to other business ventures.

Morgan Hemp Managing Director, Richard Morgan, said:

“This event was the first of many and it was pleasing to be able to share some insights into the financial and legal implications around this crucial, and often overlooked, area of business planning.

“Clearly, when someone is in the honeymoon stages of their business it can be easy to set aside the planning that needs to be done in order to future-proof the business.

“This is often the case when it comes to a strategy for winding up the company, selling it on, or handing it down to family members smoothly and successfully, but this kind of forward planning is precisely what the savviest business owners do. I hope attendees to our first business breakfast went away with some food for thought and I am very much looking forward to the next event.”

Emma del Torto, Founder of Cardiff-based HR and employment law specialists, Effective HRM, said: “Events like this one offer valuable support for those starting out in business who are keen to get the vital groundwork right.

“They are also ideal for those who feel they need a bit of a ‘refresher’ to help them keep their business running smoothly and to give them peace of mind that they are prepared for future eventualities.

“Obviously, professionals at Effective HRM, Morgan Hemp and HSBC are a phone call away for anyone who wants to discuss this topic in more detail. Or for those who are keen to come along to our next event please email: [email protected] to let us know.”
