Business News Wales has announced the launch of its first-ever podcast from a newly built studio at its offices in the Welsh capital. The news follows a £200,000 investment in the business last November via The Development Bank.

Each week a 20-minute episode will be sent to its daily audience of over 20,000 business professionals and will kick off with a news segment, followed by a feature, as well as hearing from its own editorial team and correspondents from around Wales. There will also be studio guests together with recorded vox pops from both business leaders and government officials.

The show will be hosted by Connor Simmons and supported by Chris McColgan, Cerys Palmer and Beth Perry in the editorial team. A network of public relations agency partners from all areas of Wales will also work on developing the new channel.

Mark Powney, Managing Director, Business News Wales, commented

There is a growing appetite for podcasts and the launch of Business Weekly was the next logical step in the evolution and development of Business News Wales.

Readers are beginning to accept that news is delivered in a variety of formats and peer to peer news broadcasting is one area that is increasing in confidence.

Podcasting doesn’t carry the visual presentation challenges of video and is readily accessible to professionals who may not have the skillsets of time to create a well written article.
