Budweiser Brewing Group Opens New De-alcoholisation Facility in South Wales

Budweiser Brewing Group has officially opened its first UK-based de-alcoholisation unit at the Magor Brewery in South Wales.

The firm says the move marks a major investment in domestic production of no and low alcohol beer in response to rising consumer demand.

Officially opened by Minister for Trade, Sir Chris Bryant MP, the new facility allows leading brands such as Stella Artois 0.0 and Corona Cero to be produced locally, reducing beer miles, strengthening supply chains and expanding manufacturing capacity in one of the fastest growing areas of the beer category in both the on and off-trade in the UK, the firm said.

Budweiser Brewing Group is part of AB InBev, which offers 29 no-alcohol beers in over 45 markets, one of the largest portfolios globally. In Q3 2025, AB InBev’s no-alcohol beer portfolio drove a 27% increase in global revenue, building on strong growth in the previous year. This momentum is reflected in the on-trade launch of Stella Artois 0.0, which debuted on draught in the UK at the Wimbledon Tennis Championships, and in Corona Cero’s upcoming role as the first no-alcohol beer to sponsor the Winter Olympic Games in 2026.

The new de-alcoholisation unit uses state-of-the-art technology that represents a significant step forward in preserving the full flavour and aroma of the beer, the firm said. By removing alcohol without exposing the product to prolonged high temperatures, the beer’s original character is maintained while ensuring it is alcohol free.

Attending the opening, Minister for Trade Policy Chris Bryant said:

“Low and alcohol-free options have been transformed in recent years and, thanks to this significant investment in South Wales, drinkers across the country will have yet more choice at home or in the pub. This is a real vote of confidence in our world-class manufacturing sector, proving yet again that the UK remains a smart choice for investors, delivering jobs and long-term growth around the country.”

Brian Perkins, BU West President, AB InBev, said:

“Our investment into a new dealcoholisation facility marks a significant step forward in our UK operations. It enables us to strengthen our manufacturing footprint in Wales, build our local supply chain, and demonstrates our commitment to delivering products that support consumer choice and moderation. Magor has long been a centre of innovation for Budweiser Brewing Group, and this facility helps secure its role for the future, paving a new way for drinking responsibly in the UK. At the heart of this investment is our commitment to giving people great-tasting options for every occasion. Whether consumers choose alcohol or alcohol-free, they can enjoy the same high quality, world-class brewing they expect from our brands.”
