As part of the Tredegar Townscape Heritage Initiative (THI) project, which is being led by Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council, courses are being offered to businesses and individuals in the construction and trade industry to enhance and boost skills.

A two day lime plastering course was recently held in Brecon with a successful take up of the course.  Five delegates attended the course.  It is a course that focuses on the theory and practical demonstrations of using lime in refurbishment projects which included:

  • Selecting suitable limes for each job
  • Mixing and mix ratios
  • Preparation of backgrounds and application
  • Protection work

The course was delivered by Ty Mawr Lime who are a well established traditional skills training provider. The course is accredited by the Royal Institute of Architects (RIBA) and has a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) certification. The course provided a full understanding of undertaking lime rendering. Delegate Marek Koperski of Elite Rendering Systems said “Thank you, the training was very helpful and all our team enjoyed it, it helped us to better understand traditional render.”
