Barclays has announced the appointment of Rebecca Davies as a Director of Consumer banking. Rebecca forms part of the Barclays Corporate team and her portfolio incorporates some of the largest Retail and Wholesale clients across Wales.
Rebecca aged 37, who lives in Cardiff, has over 15 years’ experience within the financial services sector and is currently Chair of the Career Ready Local Advisory Board at Cardiff and the Vale College.
Commenting on her appointment Rebecca said:
“With substantial structural changes being driven by fundamental shifts in consumer buying habits, along with technological advancements for both retailers and wholesalers, it’s a very exciting time to be taking on this role.
The challenges in the Retail and Wholesale sector are well publicised but those retailers adapting to changing customer expectations using an omni-channel environment are succeeding, particularly when also incorporating a unique customer experience at physical stores. Equally, wholesalers are mitigating price pressures from manufacturers and retailers by utilising technology, adding value to product and exploring direct to consumer opportunities.
Barclays has a wealth of industry-specific experience embedded in our local teams in Wales, helping us help our customers lead the way in their respective sub sectors. Sharing best practice for the benefit of the wider business community will ultimately drive a more prosperous community for all. I look forward to playing my part.”
Lee Everson, Regional Industry Head at Barclays, said:
“I am delighted that Rebecca has taken on the Director role within my team, her enthusiasm and expertise within the Corporate Banking sector will be a real benefit to the broader team. We were the first bank to recognise the importance of sector specialisms and introduce local industry focused teams, enabling us to build on our knowledge and expertise.”
