Techniquest has announced its ‘After Hours’ event this month will be in honour of Wales Cancer Partnership.
The popular adult-only event will return on Thursday 29 September, and will be sponsored by Cardiff-based insurance specialist Admiral.
Attendees will be able to enjoy a selection of activities and entertainment, designed to test problem solving skills, as well as a full bar and access to the centre’s 120 exhibits and 360-degree Planetarium.
The ‘Admiral After Hours Does Cancer Research’ themed event will explore the ground-breaking cancer research efforts taking place in Wales, and provide essential insight into the disease with laboratory challenges and talks from Professor Andy Sewell, Dr Richard Clarkson and Dr Richard Adams.
Participants will be able to test their problem solving skills in the “Escape from the Lab” challenge, as well as making their own DNA necklace with the ‘Genes in a Bottle’ demonstration.
Dr Anita Shaw, deputy chief executive officer at Techniquest, said:
“We always hear from visitors how much they loved visiting Techniquest when they were younger. Now, these evenings allow them to take part in all these fun activities again, without having to keep an eye on the children.
“If you’ve never visited and wondered what happens here, this is a fantastic opportunity to find out.
“It also helps us to answer the question – who enjoys it here most, children or adults?”
Geraint Jones, Admiral’s chief financial officer, added:
“We are proud of our continuing sponsorship of Admiral After Hours. It is great to be able to support a fun and educational initiative in the local Cardiff community and our staff enjoy these events immensely.”
Four ‘Admiral After Hours’ events will be held between September and March 2017. For more information and a full schedule of events, please visit www.techniquest.org
