8,000 Jobs Created in One Year Alone in Wales’ Key Financial Sector


More than 8,000 new jobs were created in the financial and professional services sector in Wales in one year alone bringing the total employment in the sector to just under 60,000.

Cardiff and Swansea saw particularly strong growth with the capital being the fastest growing city in the UK in terms of new jobs. The growth saw employment in the sector reaching just 1,400 below its pre-crisis high of 61,300 in 2008. The figures come from a report from TheCityUK, an independent body representing the financial and professional services industry.
