A specialist company providing high quality structural waterproofing and ground gas protection for some of the UK’s biggest construction projects has expanded to a new site in Tredegar, creating 12 new jobs.
The £400,000 investment by Atal UK includes a move from its previous 2,100 sq ft unit at Crown Business Park to a 12,222 sq ft unit at nearby Tafarnaubach Industrial Estate.
A total of 21 workers are now employed by the company which was set up in 2012 by construction specialist David Rees.
The company designs, supplies, and installs products which protect below-ground structures from penetration by water or ground gases. It also provides green roofing.
Atal UK has supplied products to some of the UK’s most prestigious, multi-million-pound construction projects including:
- The Midlands Metropolitan Hospital, Birmingham
- The World Business Centre, Heathrow
- Ealing Hospital, London
- The redevelopment of Birmingham city centre, Project Peach
The company’s impressive growth saw it achieve a turnover of £2.6 million last year.
Managing Director Mr Rees, a strong supporter of local young entrepreneurs, will devote some of the space in Atal UK’s new unit to create an incubator for start-up businesses in the area.
“We will provide free desk space to local young entrepreneurs who are just starting out on their business journeys.
“It’s vital they get a helping hand as they establish their businesses.
“We’re also delighted to be staying in Tredegar as the company is committed to helping to boost the local economy in the South Wales Valleys.”
The company’s success has been built on its commitment to quality and training.
Mr Rees delivers training sessions for continuous professional development (CPD) to architects, engineers, contractors, and industry bodies.
The company’s talented CAD designers and technicians are all up to date on the latest British standards, providing valuable support to architects, contractors, and engineers.
Atal UK’s technicians also carry out on-site training whenever their products are used on projects.
The company supplies customers across England and Wales. Its experience of dealing with ground gas issues has been invaluable for projects in the South West of England where geological conditions mean ground gases can be a major problem.
Projects have included work at the Gainsborough Hotel, Bath, the Ponsmere Hotel, Perranporth, Bridgwater Perfomance Centre, and Combes Head Academy, Newton Abbot.
