THIS EVENT IS CPD CERTIFIED
****Please note the date of this seminar has changed.****
This seminar will bring together policymakers and stakeholders to discuss the next steps for the effective implementation of the Growth Deal for the North Wales region.
It takes place as the negotiations for agreeing to a ‘head of terms’ for the Deal’s progress following the formal submission by the six North Wales councils of a Growth Bid to the Welsh and UK Governments, and the establishment of a North Wales Growth Board to finalise the Growth Deal and manage its delivery.
The seminar will be an opportunity for delegates to discuss the opportunities and challenges – with the completion of the full deal expected by the end of the year.
Planned sessions will look at the potential steps that can be taken to realise the Deal’s ambitions of enhancing the region’s low carbon, advanced manufacturing and digital sectors; promoting growth and the development of Regional Business and Smart Technology and Innovation hubs; creating new jobs and attracting £1bn worth of private sector investment over 15 years.
Sessions will also consider the latest thinking on meeting skills needs, attracting investment, and further commercial priorities for the region – as well as the outlook for the development of major infrastructure projects, including planned improvements to the transport and communications network.
Further discussion is expected to focus on the long-term economic challenges for the region, including reducing outward migration and the retention of young people, increasing overall employment levels and ensuring an adequate level of affordable housing to support the expected growth in employment.
