Showcasing the Best of Welsh Business

15th June – Carmarthen
Lunch with Meurig Raymond

Our first event of the summer will be held at the Halliwell Centre in Carmarthen on Friday June 15, as we welcome another high quality speaker in West Wales.

Meurig Raymond MBE, one of the most influential figures in the Welsh farming industry over the last four decades, will join us as guest speaker, this event is kindly sponsored by Castell Howell.

Meurig’s talk will touch on the challenges he has had to overcome as the landscape of his industry has evolved, insight that will no doubt be applicable to other industries and businesses in the fast-paced world we live in today.

As a leading figure within the agriculture industry, Meurig is also well positioned to give his views on the future of farming in Wales post-brexit, the impact it could have on the agricultural sector and the knock on effect for other industries.

Meurig has been involved with the National Farmers Union (NFU) for over 35 years and has held many roles within the organisation. His first appointment was with NFU Cymru was as a local branch chairman in 1979, which was followed by his election as Pembrokeshire County Chairman in 1989. He held several other roles in the following years before the Pembrokeshire-born farmer was elected as UK President in 2014.

He also represents European farmers on the European Commission’s High Level Forum for a Better Functioning Supply Chain – working to improve the position of farmers in the food chain across Europe. A Fellow of the Royal Agricultural Society since 2000, recognition for his services to agriculture came in the form of an MBE in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours List in 2005.

Alongside an undoubtedly fascinating talk, guests will also be afforded the outstanding networking opportunities provided by the event, with large numbers of business men and women from the region in attendance.

Bookings will close at midnight on Friday June 8, one week before the event.
