Description

How do Pembrokeshire County Council procure goods and services, and how does my business get involved?

What opportunities are available for my business with Transport for Wales?

If you would like to know the answer to these questions, then find out more at the next Haven Waterway Enterprise Zone Board’s Business Interaction Group event being held in conjunction with Business Wales. The event will take place in the Bridge Innovation Centre, Pembroke Dock between 8:15am – 10:00am on Thursday 14th November.

Paul Ashley Jones from Pembrokeshire Council Procurement will be discussing the opportunities available to businesses and how you can tender for this work.

Pembrokeshire County Council purchases a higher percentage of its goods and services from local companies than any other Local Authority in Wales. The Council spent approximately £178m last year in this way ranging from stationery purchases to road maintenance materials and services, and from new construction projects to food for their school meals service.

Engineering services required to maintain infrastructure such as the Cleddau Bridge are a good example of where local companies provide the specialist knowledge and skills to keep the county functioning.

Transport for Wales will provide contracts worth £50 million per year over the next 15 years for businesses of all sizes, across many sectors. £194 million will also be spent on station development as part of the project.

Transport for Wales will require companies from a variety of sectors, including construction, engineering, food and drink, facilities management, accommodation, grounds maintenance, transport etc. Your business could be a part of this exciting project.

A presentation discussing tendering support offered by Business Wales will also form part of the morning, this support includes how to plan and tender for public and private sector contracts, how to get your business ‘Tender Ready’, guidance on e-procurement, support with Sell2Wales etc.
