Showcasing the Best of Welsh Business

14th November – Cardiff
Women at the Top Event

Join us to celebrate and listen to the journeys of inspiring women at the top.

We have been working hard behind the scenes to bring you a corker of a topic and a panel of speakers to match.

We are so excited to announce that our eleventh event of 2019, Women at the Top, will be celebrating the successes and journeys of two inspiring ladies who are leading the way and making sure that their voices are being heard.

The need for gender equality is widely accepted, yet just 5.5% of companies in the FTSE 100 and S&P 500 are led by women.

To help us understand this more our speakers will be sharing with us their stories of success and setbacks, the obstacles they faced while climbing to the top of the ladder, how they feel equality is being addressed and their thoughts on the future landscape for women in leadership.

Expect thought provoking, inspiring levels to be maxed out!

What will your ticket include:

– an informal night to chat, meet and mingle with like-minded women

– interactive talks from inspirational female leaders

– the chance to ask any questions in the Q&A section of the evening

– welcome drink at the bar

– yummy treats

Our Speakers:

Sophie Howe – Future Generations Commissioner for Wales

Sophie’s had a glowing and inspiring career beginning when she became the youngest Councillor in Wales, being elected at just 21.

Alongside being a Mum of five children, Sophie is now the Future Generations Commissioner for Wales, where she is tasked with ensuring progress against Wales’ ground-breaking and unique ‘Wellbeing of Future Generations’ legislation – acting as a guardian of the interests of future generations and to make sure that the government and other public bodies are applying the law. Prior to this, Sophie was the first Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner for South Wales where she led programmes to tackle violent crime and violence against women and girls.

Sophie has also served as a Government Special Adviser – providing policy and political advice on communities, local government, community safety, housing, regeneration and equality.

Louise Harris – Co-Founder of Tramshed Tech and Director of Big Learning Company

Once a drama teacher, Louise realised that technology wasn’t being used to its full potential for teaching and learning and saw a gap in the market that could support schools with expertise to roll out technology in the classroom.

Fast forward ten years, Big Learning Company has used its expertise in digital education to make a difference to the life chances of young people. They are now one of the UK’s leading digital learning and teaching organisations who offer guidance to teachers, educators and industry leaders on finding creative ways to deliver learning.

Alongside this, Louise has also opened Cardiff co-working space, Tramshed Tech, with the aim of producing an amazing space for co-working and being creative. She also has big plans to grow an international business reputation to bring business back to Wales, all whilst advising Welsh Government on International Strategy.
