£10k Fundraising Target by Prescott Jones for Charity Y Bont Underway

Staff at an independent Welsh insurance broker have raised over £8,000 through a team skydive and a 100 mile bike ride between their Bristol, Cardiff and Swansea offices.

To celebrate its 25th year in business, Prescott Jones committed to raise £10,000 during 2016, as well as to provide various in-kind contributions to restore a playground that children are unable to properly enjoy any more.

IMG_2151The company is working to provide much-needed funding for Bridgend-based children’s charity Y Bont so it can continue providing support and respite to families of disabled children in the area.

Initially catering for just 15 families when it opened in 1997, rising demand for its services has seen Y Bont grow over the last 18 years, and it now has over 150 children and families benefitting from its services.

Having set up a dedicated fundraising committee, Prescott Jones team members Gareth Jones, Rhys Hughes, Jack Prescott and Steve Davies took to the Swansea sky for a skydive, whilemanaging director Ed Prescott and colleagues Paul Gardner and Mike Steeds (with support from NIG’s Don Oakley) put on their helmets and cycled from Bristol to Swansea via their Cardiff office – totalling over 100 miles.

Ed Prescott, Managing Director of Prescott Jones said:

“Celebrating 25 years in business is no mean feat and we wanted to commemorate by bringing our Cardiff, Bristol and Swansea teams together to give back to communities that have supported us so well.

“Never did I think that over the space of one week I would be part of a team whose members would ride over 100 miles and willingly jump out of a plane. I am so proud of the whole team and to those who are supporting our fundraising efforts.

“Y Bont is a wonderful charity and having visited the site, I can’t wait to see the playground brought back to life as it will bring so much joy to the lives of the children who attend. Our next fundraising events will see us playing cricket at Mumbles Cricket Club, arranging a duck race, hosting a charity Indian dinner evening, hosting an insurance industry pub games evening in Cardiff and we will have the Aviva Premiership Trophy at our office in Bristol to help raise funds”
