C3i Group, the Swansea based event production company, has been selected as The Open’s Digital Communications Partner until 2021.

This is the first time a six year contract has been awarded by the R&A.

“Having set up, produced and managed all digital content streamed at The Open for the last two Championships, we know what a huge responsibility and privilege this contract is.  C3i is responsible for the fibre optic infrastructure, ethernet network & IP infrastructure, telephony and on-course WiFi as well as being the point of call for all onsite IT, AV and LED screen requirements.

To ensure a smooth operation, we provide technical support throughout all services, with dedicated support for each key area.” Said Jason Hall, Managing Director of C3i Group.

With such a massive operation, The C3i Group has to revamp their core production team of seven, to a team of more than 125 staff and subcontractors for The Open.

As C3i Group continues to grow, they are delighted to announce that Major Tim Grantham (retd) has recently joined the team. Tim enjoyed a long and distinguished career in the military, spanning 30 years’ serving Queen and country.

Since retiring from the military, Tim has worked tirelessly organising large scale events to benefit injured military personnel.

C3i provides a complete digital service for events of all sizes, indoor or outdoor.  From laying over 44 kms of cabling to deliver a seamless broadcast service; providing the infrastructure for event-wide WiFi or installing an LED screen wall; there is no limit to the digital technology used to create superb visitor experiences.

With roots very much in Wales, C3i Group was commissioned to design and fit out the new in-house broadcast suite at The Principality Stadium, home to the Welsh Rugby Union.  They were subsequently appointed production company to the Welsh Rugby Union for all Principality Stadium events.

Supporting event management companies, C3i Group creates a tailored, seamless digital communication service for events using their four specialist branches – C3i Events, C3i Production, C3i Hire and C3i Tech.

Providing behind-the-scenes digital support services, C3i use the latest technology, to take the stress and strain away from event organisers.

“We fully understand how stressful it can be for event organisers….and how their primary focus is to deliver a fantastic live experience for their visitors.  We love to come up with new solutions that mean the organiser has confidence that we will deliver and the visitor leaves with a smile – keeping everyone and everything connected.” Commented Jason.
