If you have a passion for sports, are aged 16 and over and would like to help run Wales’ biggest multi-sport event – organisers of Gemau Cymru (Welsh Games) want to hear from you!
This year’s Gemau Cymru takes place at various locations across Cardiff from Friday 30 June until Sunday 2 July and volunteers are needed. Gemau Cymru is the annual bilingual sporting competition for budding Welsh talent.
Those volunteering will either be Competition or Administrative Assistants. The former includes timekeepers, umpires and referees. The latter will include registering competitors, programme selling and stewarding.
A City of Cardiff Council spokesperson said:
“As a proud partner of The Sports Hub Cardiff we are happy to endorse this recruitment drive and we encourage people to volunteer and be a part of this year’s Gemau Cymru. The games need to fill these essential roles in order to be a success and volunteers will have a fun weekend whilst doing something which looks very impressive on CVs.”
A wide range of sports are covered at Gemau Cymru including Rowing, Weightlifting, Canoeing, Athletics, Gymnastics, Judo, Netball, Table Tennis, Hockey, and Triathlon. Athletes are chosen by the respective governing bodies for each sport and will stay in an Athlete Village whilst competing in Cardiff.
