Snowdonia based DMM Group, a leading manufacturer of Climbing and Work at Height safety equipment, has been awarded GOLD accreditation against the Investors in People Standard, joining the top seven per cent of accredited organisations across the UK, demonstrating their commitment to high performance through good people management.
Investors in People is the Standard for people management. The international people management Standard defines what it takes to lead, support and manage people well for sustainable results.
DMM were the first company in Wales to achieve the Investors in People, regular standard back in 1992. As part of the re-assessment process, DMM have continued to remain accredited to this standard, with the last assessment taking place in 2012. Going for the GOLD status meant DMM had to achieve additional evidence requirements from across the broader Investors in People framework. Independent interviews were carried with staff chosen randomly by an external assessor who judged the business against 165 evidence requirements, compared to the 39 required to meet the basic standard.
DMM has over 35 years of manufacturing heritage based in North Wales. It has grown, from its humble beginnings employing 4 people, to now employing over 180 people with a turnover in excess of £11m.
DMM’s growth over the last 20 years has been driven by exports, with direct exports to over 50 countries now representing 65% of the company’s business.
