Staff from an organisation representing more than 500 tourism businesses in Powys, Ceredigion and Meirionnydd have begun their annual series of ‘meet the members’ events.

MWT Cymru, based in Machynlleth, is holding six trade days across the region to meet existing and prospective new members.

The events began at Small World Theatre, Cardigan on March 1 and continue at Mary Jones World, Bala on Thursday, March 16; Monty’s Brewery, Montgomery on Tuesday, March 21 and Elan Valley Visitor Centre, Rhayader on Wednesday, March 22.

The dates of meetings at Talyllyn Railway, Tywyn and Crickhowell or Brecon have yet to be confirmed.

All the events are from 11am to 1pm and one-to-one sessions, to provide help with Guestlink, the web booking channel used by MWT Cymru, or to discuss matters relating to membership or marketing, are available both before and after the meeting.

The 30-minute one-to-one training sessions must be pre-booked.

A familiarisation talk and tour of each host venue will be held between 1.30pm and 2.30pm.

The events, which are open to MWT members, tourism association representatives and guests, provide an ideal opportunity to meet informally and exchange information about the tourism industry, events and new ventures.

“I am looking forward to meeting our members as well as leaders of local tourism groups at the events,” said Val Hawkins, MWT’s chief executive. “It’s important that we receive a business update from our members and hear what else they think we can do to help them.”

She will provide information about the company’s latest website, digital and social media developments as well as planned events and the new Bedroom Browser for 2017-‘18.

The MWT Cymru team will encourage members to make the most of their membership benefits, including marketing reviews, business support and training.

They will emphasise the importance of businesses being able to accept direct online bookings and will discuss channel management, booking system integration, Fairbooking Wales.com and the use of eshop.

MWT provides an extensive range of services to help members develop and market their businesses, whilst also giving them access to exclusive membership discounts.

Anyone planning to attend the trade days or wishing to take advantage of the one-to-one advice sessions is asked to contact MWT Cymru on Tel: 01654 702653.
