Barton Willmore pleased to announce that we have strengthened our services with the appointment of Infrastructure and Energy Director, Ben Lewis.
The appointment is a logical extension to the Practice’s well-established offer and represents the first appointment of a specialist Infrastructure Director as part of our growth strategy to serve the UK market.
Ben joins the practice after 17 years working for GVA, where he led a range of large scale planning projects across the development industry, with his expertise in advising on and securing consent for Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects, renewable energy schemes and radioactive waste management.
Mark Sitch, Senior Partner, said:
“The Government recognises the need to unlock and provide significant infrastructure across the country, and our clients are increasingly involved in the delivery of large pieces of infrastructure and commercial floorspace. We welcome Ben to the practice, to add to our offer and help us to continue to grow our team in this area.”
Our team has a strong track record in the infrastructure and energy sector, having advised on strategic rail freight projects and one of the most well-known Development Consent Orders (DCO) in the Preesall Underground Gas Storage scheme – the first DCO to be consented after a successful legal challenge to a refusal by the Secretary of State. Ben will also work alongside the Practice’s strong Environmental Planning Team.
“Barton Willmore has a long-standing reputation for delivering dynamic large-scale development projects in the residential, commercial and energy sectors. With that strong history, I’m excited about being given the opportunity to lead the infrastructure and energy business across the UK.”
